Over-the-top dessert: This is what a $900 cupcake looks like!

Some husbands give their wives flowers and jewelry for their birthday. Others commission local bakers to come up with the most extravagant cupcake possible and are willing to part with $900 for it. That’s what happened in Toronto recently, when Lisa Sanguedolce of Le Dolci bakery was approached by a man to create an over-the-top dessert to celebrate his wife’s 40th birthday. After a few days of brainstorming, the pastry team came up with a concoction made with some of the most expensive ingredients in the world, including Krug Collection Brut champagne, 24-karat gold leaves, and a limited edition Courvoisier.
