Stripes and light layers at Dries Van Noten: The Belgian designer opened with striped satin tailored trousers and shorts, and tons of printed semi-sheer silk. Tiered dresses arrived along with colorful, fuzzy knits, sequin tops, watercolor florals and indigo pinstriped tailoring (the jackets came with sleek shawl collars). The models rocked this season's trend for loosely center-parted hair, with a nude face save for a glossy beige lip. The shoes offered a contrast to the color of the clothes, with most outfits paired with chunky ice white sandals although there were a few fringed and fawn-colored versions. (AFP)

Elegant dresses and overalls at Guy Laroche: The dress was the most heavily recurring item during his show. Short or long, decorated with colored plexiglas or made of silk interwoven with raffia and lurex, with modest crew necks or plunging V-necks, with leather inserts or laser cut motifs. There are also a few skirts, most often worn with a shirt buttoned up to the collar. But perhaps the most surprising piece is a pair of overalls, which were structured and chic like the rest of the collection. In terms of accessories, defying the trend towards flats that seemed to emerge earlier this fashion month, the models wore strappy sandals with stiletto heels. (AFP)

Sporty touches and dark crystals at Damir Doma: The German-Croatian designer showed clothes for a woman who doesn't mind the limelight. White pajama shirting and a leather braided twist on jean shorts, plenty of wavy prints and fabric patterns, semi-sheer shirts dominated his show. There was a sporty touch from black and white striped elasticated waists and collars, and then later bright orange mesh that was inserted as side panels into dresses, and worn as a top. The suede jackets and skirts that came in a soft caramel were another highlight. Footwear included python and suede creepers (a perennial favorite here) and wedge sandals. (AFP)

Deconstructed and dressy at Cédric Charlier: At the Brussels-born designer's show the models rocked a sexy evening beauty look, hot berry compote lips, bold eyes and glittering drop earrings. Faux-pattern cutting guidelines marked out in appliqué work, jacket arms cut off jaggedly, and stripes of horizontal silk in bumblebee gold, black, white, pink and gray. These were joined by silk negligée-style cocktail dresses and slouchy shirtdresses in soft pink, then richer red and emerald tones. Feathers appeared too, covering whole skirts and fringing the sporty mesh panels that cropped up on shoulders and hips. Leather skirts were another later addition, cut light, and layered over matching black silk. (AFP)
