The CBI on Thursday searched four locations, including the offices of Videocon and NuPower, a company operated by ICICI Bank’s former CEO Chanda Kochhar’s husband Deepak Kochhar, in Mumbai. Kochhar and her husband have been named accused by the CBI in connection with the Rs 3,250 crore loan given to the Videocon Group given in 2012. Justice AK Sikri has recused himself from hearing a petition challenging appointment of M Nageshwar Rao as the interim director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). This follows a controversy after it was reported that Justice Sikri’s name had been cleared for appointment to a tribunal in London after his retirement. Rescuers on Thursday managed to pull out the remains of the lone body that they had managed to locate in the flooded Meghalaya coal mine in East Jaintia Hills district. On Tuesday, the body had slipped from the grip of the Navy’s underwater remotely operated vehicle. The body was found late on Wednesday evening. The body was pulled out in a joint operation by the NDRF and Indian Navy. (PTI File)

The Supreme Court will today hear the case involving realty firm Amrapali to determine how to provide possession certificates to buyers of its new flats. Around 8,000 homebuyers are hoping the court will allow them to register their flats and also order completion of pending civic work.
