In Kenya, Budalangi’s Buyuku village has received heavy rainfall over the past few days. This has resulted in massive landslides and over flooding of the River Nzoia- that has left more than 1800 families living in this Kenyan region, homeless. Kenya’s weather cycle witnesses two rainy seasons with the one in April-June being worse than the October-December cycle and is also known as East Africa’s “Long rains”. Meanwhile, on the COVID-19 front, Kenya saw a daily record of 45 new cases as the tally hit 535 on May 5. Nine more patients were discharged bringing the total number of recoveries to 182.
