22-year-old youth dies after being run over by a truck in Chikhali

The truck has been tracked down and a case of rash and negligent driving, under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been lodged

A 22-year-old youth died after being run over by a speeding truck in Morevasti, Chikhali in Pimpri-Chinchwad commissionerate area on Friday evening. Chikhali police arrested the truck driver on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Sunil Bhagwat Shinde, a resident of Karmala in Solapur district. The accused has been identified as Dattatreya Garje. According to the police, Sunil was walking on the road when he was run over by the speeding truck near Anganwadi Colony. Chikhali police said that the body has been handed over to the relatives after carrying out an autopsy.

Assistant sub-inspector Madhukar Varpe said, “The vehicle with registration number MH 03 CV 1999 hit the victim leading to his death. The truck has been tracked down and a case of rash and negligent driving, under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been lodged against Garje.”
