4 men, juvenile who stole over 27 bikes arrested in Pune by the Crime Branch

Pune: Unit 5 of Pune police Crime Branch recovered 27 bikes from four men and one juvenile caught in a case of bike theft from a housing society in Mundhwa where one of the four accused reside. The four men were identified as Swapnil alias Nanya Ankush Misal (20), a resident of Mundhwa, Paul alias Baba Raju John (20) of Laxminagar PImple Gurav, Akshay alias Janglya Raju Bhalerao (20) of Dapodi, and Rupesh alias Bunty Rahul Alhat (19), a resident of Khadki.
The police have successfully solved 13 cases of two-wheeler vehicle theft from various places in the city. These cases include two from Hadapsar, two from Khadki and one each from Sanghvi, Pimpri, Dighi, Kondhwa, Swargate, Mundhwa, Wanowrie, Faraskhana, and Roha Raigad police stations. The owners of the remaining 14 vehicles are yet to be ascertained, according to the police.
The identified two-wheelers include mopeds and geared motor bikes of various companies. The men have also been booked in a case of breaking and entering into a kiosk, registered at Mundhwa police station. The collective recovery of 14 counts of thefts is estimated to be Rs 10,00,000 by the police.
The four men and the juvenile were taken into custody on July 1. The four men have been sent to police custody till Thursday as the police are expecting more cases of similar thefts to come to light. The investigation has been handed over to Police Sub Insepctor Akil Sheikh of Unit 5, Crime Branch.
In a similar case, Unit 3 of Crime Branch also arrested Sunny Ramchandra Saroj (27), a resident of Yalvandi Fata for stealing 6 motor bikes worth Rs 2,20,000. The cases were registered at Vishrambaug, Mundhwa, Chandannagar and Bhosari police stations.
