The “accidental death” of a 24-year-old man from Santoshnagar in Katraj is being suspected as a case involving the suicide game, Blue Whale. The deceased has been identified as Yusuf Yakub Shaikh.

While no suicide note has been found, the police have recovered four Android phones. While it has been registered as an accidental death, the matter is being investigated by police sub-inspector (PIS) BH Ahiwale of Bharti Vidyapeeth police station.

"His friends are spreading the rumour that it is a case of Blue Whale. Yes, he played games on his phone constantly, but we have to unlock all the phones in order to know what type of games he was playing. We have called in experts to do that. We will know better when we have access to the contents of his phone," PSI Ahiwale said.

PSI Ahiwale said that while he did have cut marks, they did not point in the direction of self harm.
