Police investigations in the murder case of Anand Kamble, 26, a resident of Aundh, has revealed that the murder was the fallout of an illicit relationship. Anand, a resident of Ambedkar vasahat in Aundh, was hacked to death in Pasarni ghat near Panchgani on Saturday.
He was recently married to Diksha Kamble and had planned a honeymoon trip to the hill stations of Panchagani and Mahabaleshwar. Anand and Diksha, along with another couple, identified as Rajesh Bobade and Kalyani Bobade, were on their way to Panchagani. While crossing Pasarni ghat, Anand and Diksha stopped their journey after she began complaining of uneasiness.
Anand comforted her as she gasped for breath while the other couple Rajesh and Kalyani were busy clicking pictures.
Four persons arrived on two different two-wheelers and attacked Anand with sharp weapons . The accused persons were armed with sickles and Anand suffered injuries on his head ,ears and hands.One of the accused held back Diksha while the others attacked Anand.
Following the incident, Rajesh and Kalyani rushed to Wai police station to lodge a case. Anand was taken to a hospital, but he failed to survive. Onlookers had created chaos in the ghat section following the incident, according to the police.
Padmakar Ghanwat, police inspector, Satara local crime branch, and Vinayak Vetal, police inspector, Wai police station, who also started the investigation, maintained that the murder had been plotted by Diksha and Nikhil Malekar,her boyfriend. Ghanwat said that Nikhil Malekar was arrested in the case as he was in an illicit relation with Diksha.
"Nikhil was arrested from Nigdi on Sunday morning. Our investigation is in progress" said Ghanwat.
