Arihant College of Arts, Commerce and Science won a five goal thriller 3-2 against seasoned Nowrosjee Wadia College in a senior boys’ qualifier of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports football tournament here on Tuesday.
The hero of the day was striker Vicky Pujari who netted a brace, including the match winner for Arihant, five minutes from time.
In a match of fluctuating fortunes at the PDFA ground, Dobarwadi, Arihant College took the lead early when Kasim Sayyed found the net in the eighth minute.
However, Prathamesh Tekade (29’) levelled the scores for Nowrosjee Wadia as both teams went into the break on an even keel.
After the changeover, Vicky (45’) put Arihant College ahead, but their joy was short-lived as eight minutes later Vipul Londhe found the equaliser for Nowrosjee to make it 2-2.
However, with five minutes left for regulation time, Vicky booted in the clincher.
The other senior boys match scheduled for the day between Ness Wadia and Limra New English and Junior College could not take place as the latter failed to turn up. Ness Wadia were awarded a walkover.
In the college boys section, MAEER’S MIT Institute of Design defeated Abeda Inamdar College 2-0 with Siddharth Chakraborty (11’) and Ishaan Arora (19’) finishing off the job in the first half.
