Assailants kill known criminal on Pune-Satara road

A murder case has been registered against unidentified assailants at Saswad police station

A group of unidentified assailants shot dead Hasan Shaikh (36), a criminal of some record, at Narayanpur, Pune-Satara road, on Thursday morning.

In what was a well-planned gangland-style hit, according to police, Shaikh was on his way to Narayanpur in his BMW, when the assailants, travelling in a Bolero, crashed into Shaikh’s vehicle (PICTURE FOR REPRESENTATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY)

Shaikh is on the record with the Sinhagad police station in several previous cases.

In what was a well-planned gangland-style hit, according to police, Shaikh was on his way to Narayanpur in his BMW, when the assailants, travelling in a Bolero, crashed into Shaikh’s vehicle. The immediately came out of the vehicle and shot Shaikh twice, apart from attacking him with knives and choppers to ensure he was dead.

A murder case has been registered against unidentified assailants at Saswad police station.

Investigating officials said that Shaikh was also attacked in 2015. He sustained serious injuries and was in a coma from which he later recuperated.

The police suspect that the murder could be a fallout of an old rivalry. Police inspector A V Gholap is investigating the case.
