Four of Pune-based multinational company booked for sexually harassing female colleague

A complaint was filed by the 23-year-old female employee at the Hinjewadi police station.

Four men of a Pune-based multinational company, including a manager and a team leader, were booked by the Pimpri-Chinchwad police for sexually harassing their female colleague.

A complaint was filed by the 23-year-old female employee at the Hinjewadi police station. The police did not reveal the name of the victim and the accused on their request.

According to the complainant, the harassment took place between November 2017 and 2018. The accused began to treat her differently when they learned she belonged to backward class. In her complaint, the 23-year-old said that her colleagues refused to giver her work , passed derogatory comments and did not include her in their team. She also alleged that one of the accused touched her inappropriately.

Sapna Devtale, sub-inspector, Hinjewadi police station, said, “The complainant does not go to office because of these incidents. The accused have not been arrested.” A case under Section 354 of IPC and Sections 3(1)(w)(i) and 3(1)(r) of Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 was registered.
