Kulkarni clarified that despite these offers, she will continue to work for the BJP and make every effort to ensure the victory of party state unit chief Chandrakant Patil.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Tuesday, dropped MLA Medha Kulkarni to make way for Chandrakant Patil who will contest the assembly polls from Kothrud constituency. This move raised eyebrows as the seat was being represented by Kulkarni, who was hoping to get another term.

An emotional Kulkarni, said, “Both Raj Thackeray from MNS and Jayant Patil from NCP requested me to contest the polls on their respective party’s ticket. I told them that I consider their offer as an honour, however, I am committed to the BJP’s ideology.”

Kulkarni further added, “My voters are my family and I will convince them that we have to work together to elect Chandrakant Patil from Kothrud. I am a disciplined party worker and I will adhere to every order issued by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Chandrakant Patil”.

Patil, who hails from Kolhapur and a member of the state legislative council, has never contested the assembly elections before.

Pune will accept me: Chandrakant Patil

Responding to the criticism of being an ‘outsider’ in Pune, Chandrakant Patil said that he is determined to contest from the Kothrud constituency in Pune and expressed his confidence via a video on social media. In the video, Patil said that he has a strong connect with Pune as he is the city’s guardian minister. He added that his wife, Anjali Khare, hails from Pune.
