One arrested for murder of woman found dead in a water tank in Ambegaon

The complaint in the matter was filed by the deceased woman's relative identified as Narayan Tamang, 27, also a resident of the same society.

A 26-year-old man was arrested for the murder of a 35-year-old woman, he is suspected to have been romantically involved with. The woman was identified as Sunmaya Ganesh Tamang, 35, while the arrested man was identified as Arun Sahebrao Pawar. Pawar lived in Shivneri building in Ambegaon Pathar area.

The woman's body was found floating in the water tank located in the parking area of the building Pawar lived in.

Pawar was remanded in police custody by a local court after his arrest. Tamang’s body was taken to a local hospital for post-mortem after it was discovered by the residents.

The incident happened between 9 am on Friday and 10 am on Saturday, according to the police.

A case under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against Pawar at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. Assistant police inspector MM Salunkhe of the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station is investigating the case.
