Police arrest fourth accused in Varun Desai assault case
More details related to Pranit Nimhan, the main accused in the case, have also emerged.
Chatuhshrungi police, on Tuesday, arrested Rutwik Tatyshetye, a resident of Aundh, who is the fourth accused in the Varun Desai assault case. Rutwik had been absconding since the day of the incident and police were searching for his whereabouts. According to police, Rutwik has been identified as an adult.

Meanwhile, more details related to Pranit Nimhan, the main accused in the case, have also emerged.
Varun Salil Desai, a 21-year-old resident of Shantiniketan Cooperative Housing Society at Bhau Patil road in Bopodi, suffered serious injuries after he was allegedly assaulted by four persons, including Nimhan, near Hotel Sarjya, at around 4.15pm on April 26, for not giving them side while they were trying to overtake Desai’s bike in their car. The Chatuhshrungi police produced them in juvenile court on April 28, after which they were handed over to their parents.
Earlier, Nimhan was produced in court by the Chatuhshrungi police as a juvenile. He also had charges of drunken driving against him from the month of February. Nimhan was booked under Section 185 (driving by a drunken person or by a person under the influence of drugs), Section 130 (driver, in a public place, failing to produce his license, on demand, to any police officer in uniform), under the Motor Vehicle (MV) Act, on February 8, 2018.
The details related to Nimhan have been mentioned on the website of Pune district court, where a case against him was heard by JMFC (judicial magistrate) court on April 16, 2018. The next hearing date has been given as August 15, 2018.
Dayanand Dhome, police inspector, Chatuhshrungi police station, said, “We will file a case against Pranit Nimhan for driving the car without holding a valid driving license. Besides, information related to his previous court case will also be submitted before the court,” he said.
