Pune crime branch sleuths arrest six for extortion

The Crime Branch Unit III have arrested six criminals on police records on charges of demanding an extortion of Rs.11.05 lakh from a plumbing contractor and had locked him at an isolated place for three days. The suspects have been identified as Mukesh Maruti Raut ( 33), a resident of Chinchwad , Nilesh Kishore Kokare ( 20 ), a resident of Chinchwad , Siraj Rustam Ansari ( 25), a resident of Chikhali, Raju Vilas Gaikwad (35), a resident of Phulenagar, Ashok alias Lambya Bhimrao Jawale (35), a resident of Done in Mulshi and Vijay Baban Wadekar, a resident of Donje.
The complainant identified as Mohammad Hussain has been in plumbing contract business for a very long time and Siraj was his former employee who knew minutest details of his former employer. Siraj along with the other suspects accosted Hussain’s vehicle after banging it from behind. The suspects physically assaulted him after which Hussain dropped unconscious and used his mobile phone to make threatening calls demanding extortion. The suspects moved Hussain to an unidentified location and kept him locked for three days, crime branch officials said. An offence has been registered against the suspects at Kondhwa Police Station.
DCP (crime) Pankaj Dahane said that all the accused were criminals on record and had serious offences registered against them at different police stations in the city commissionerate.
