Pune police assure action against gambling den at Wakad

Satish Mane, senior police inspector from Wakad, said,“Yes, we have received complaints regarding illegal activities in the Wakad area. Our team visited the spot and stopped all the illegal activities. We will shut the place permanently if complaints continue.”
The Wakad police have assured to take action against gambling and drinking activities in Shankar Kalate nagar area of the locality after receiving complaints from the neighbourhood community. Gambling and many others illegal activities were taking place openly in a residential-cum-commercial building in the area.

The residents of a number of housing societies had expressed serious concern about this, fearing for the safety and security of the neighbourhood.
A resident from the locality said that drunken behaviour from the outlet was on the rise, causing concern among passersby and residents.
Residents in the area also reported of a ruckus on Friday night after which the gambling den remained shut throughout the day on Saturday.
Shankar Kalate nagar has around 1,000 flats and 30 shops. The residents have requested the police to take immediate action against the persons involved in the illegal activities in the area.
