Nikhil Agarwal is regarded as the Founder of EntrepreneurCafe.org, which is regarded as one of largest entrepreneurship networks in the world. Agarwal is the former CEO, innovation society, Andhra Pradesh and also an alumnus of the University of Cambridge.The academician turned technocrat returned to India from the United Kingdom (UK) responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to the Indian diaspora to return to India for strengthening the ‘Make in India’ concept. Agarwal spoke to Nadeem Inamdar on the sidelines of the 3rd annual global convention of the Entreprenuer Café, held at MIT Art, Design and Technology University in Loni Kalbhor
Can you give us a brief overview about EntrepreneurCafe.org ?
It is a global movement aimed at setting up one of the most robust ecosystem of business knowledge sharing and feedback platforms among entrepreneurs working in different domains of trade and commerce. We have covered more than 100-plus cities globally, geographically spread over 26 countries in the world, wherein, 3,000 meetings have been held with 45,000 entrepreneurs attending.
How do you forsee the relationship with Pune?
MIT-ADT university is promoting one of the best ecosystems of entrepreneurial education and a culture with diligence and professionalism.The convention at the university in Pune was addressed by major policy makers, investors, bureaucrats, venture capitalists and entrepreneurs, setting the agenda for creation of the ideal entrepreneurial culture for Pune.
What are the your future plans for Pune?
We are committed to establish an internationally acclaimed incubation centre at MIT-ADT university jointly, wherein a fund of between $10 million -$15 million will be made available. The incubation centre will be set up as a role model for others and we will put Pune on the global map. Pune has immense potential to become a smart city . We believe that the triple helix of government support, entrepreneurial passion and innovation will help the city and its entrepreneurs achieve the global scalability. It will push Pune to become the start up capital of Maharashtra.
