The final of the all India Abeda Inamdar invitational women’s cricket tournament turned out to be a one-sided affair as home team Azam Sports Academy scored a nine-wicket victory over Haryana to lift the title at Azam Campus ground in Camp on Sunday.

Team Haryana who was high on their openers performance saw things getting difficult after duo Tannu Joshi and Rumma Rathod were out in first three overs.

Things become worst for visitors as they kept losing wickets and none of the players could score in double digit. Pooja Toppu was the top scorer with seven runs.

Pradnya Veerkar of Azam Sports Academy was the pick from bowlers as she took three wickets giving away just eight runs in four overs. Teammate Sonal Patil added two more wickets to team’s tally.

Chasing a small total of 62 runs Azam Sports Academy secured victory in just 8.4 overs.

Experience players, Tejal Hasabnis scored 38 in 15 balls and Kiran Navgire’s 24 in 12 balls were enough to seal the contest.

It was the first time that Azam Sports Academy won the tournament which is conducted since the last five years at their campus.
