Hardial Singh Mann, senior superintendent of police (SSP), said that mine persons, involved in committing thefts by breaking into houses, have been apprehended and they have been identified as Vicky alias Binda, Akash, Jassa Singh alias Butball, Gora s/o Simna, Sunil alias Sheela, Akash, Chandan, Sukha and Gulshan. Gold Ornaments worth `9 lakh, a bike, 28 gas cylinders, 2 LCDs, 1 inverter and other household goods have been seized from them.
He said the police had a tip-off that Gora, Sunil Kumar alias Sheela, Chandan, Sukha and Gulshan were planning to commit a burglary, but all of them were nabbed from Makhu before they could commit the crime.
Jassa Singh, during investigation, admitted that he had stolen various goods from houses as well as shops and sold them to the people.
The police have also nabbed Balwinder Singh alias Billa and seized 225 bags of rice worth Rs 3,00,000 and a truck worth Rs 8,00,000 from him. Further investigations are going on.
