12 booked for swallowing ballot papers

The police have registered four FIRs in different cases of poll related violations. Even some residents of Haryana were booked for coming into polling areas in alleged violation of Section 144 CrPC, which had been imposed to prevent entry of outsiders.
A total of 12 people were booked in Shekhupura village for swallowing ballot papers on the complaint of Sukhpal Singh, presiding officer at the polling booth in the village. A case under sections 135 and 136-F of Representation of Public Act, 1951, and 323, 353, 177, 188, of the IPC was registered against Mehtab Singh, Kalyan Singh, Subega Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Amarjit Singh, Baldev Singh, Hardip Singh, Gurbhajan Singh, Dian Singh, Supanpreet Kaur, Avtar Singh and Baljinder, who allegedly swallowed some ballot papers during the couting of votes.
In another case, the police booked Gulzar Singh, a candidate for the post of sarpanch at Bakhshiwal village, on the complaint of presiding officer Anil Saxsena, who alleged that the accused had decamped with ballot papers polled in favour of his rival.
At Rajgarh Sondewal village Samana, police booked sarpanch candidate Harjinder Singh and his associate Dharminder Singh, who during re-counting of votes fled away with the ballot papers of rival candidate, who was leading.
At Bherpuri village, the police booked sarpanch candidate Karamjit Singh, who, when lost, tried to snatch the ballot boxes to scuttle the election process.
At Mauliwala village in Patran block, the police booked four people Balwant Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Sultan Singh and Harinder Singh, who allegedly fled with 195 ballot papers during the counting of votes.
At Nijamiwala village in Samana constituency, the police booked six Haryana residents, who along with local citizens, were creating ruckus at the polling station. Those booked have been identified as Angrej Singh, Harpal Singh, Gurmeet Kaur, Baldev Singh, Tehal Singh and Nishan Singh, all residents of Karnal. They have been booked for violation of Section 144 of CrPC.
