According to Ashutosh, a leader of the Vishav Hindu Parishad, "Nearly 15 cows were found dead at the T-point on the Refinery road near Gurthari village. Five of the cows were found alive but seemed under the influence of some poison. Cows found alive have been sent to a cow shelter house."

"We suspect that poison was given to the cows with the intention to kill them. It may be the handiwork of private guards deployed in fields to protect crops during night. We want proper investigation in this case. Otherwise, we will intensify our protest. We have been awaiting for the post-mortem report," said Ashutosh.

Hindu organisations also staged a dharna and raised slogans against the police for allegedly failing in curbing such incidents.

Meanwhile, the district police have registered a case against unidentified people under the cow protection Act. No one has been arrested so far in this case.
