The district police booked two men in separate cases for allegedly abducting two minor girls, students of Class-8, on the promise of marriage on Monday.
However, the police rescued both within a few hours. No arrest has been made in this connection so far, said police officials.
Police officials said that Sadik Singh, a resident of Daulewala village under Dharamkot subdivision, allegedly abducted a minor girl on the promise of marriage on Monday. According to police officials, the girl was rescued after a few hours of her abduction. However, the accused is still at large.
Manjit Singh, assistant sub-inspector of Kot-Ise-Khan, who is also investigation officer (IO) of the case, said that the victim's father complained to the police that his minor daughter, who was a student of Class-8 in a local school was abducted by Sadik Singh while she was on her way to the school.
The police official said, "As soon as we received a complaint in this regard, we formed a special police team to find out the girl. Finally, rescued the girl from near Kot-Ise-Khan town, but the accused fled the spot. However, raids are on to nab him."
In another case, the police booked Raja Dass, a resident of Kahan Singh Wala village, for allegedly abducting and raping a 15-year-old girl.
Investigating officer Balvir Singh of Sadar police station said that the victim was a student of Class-8. "The mother of the victim complained to police that Raja Dass, who operates a JCB machine in the village, kidnapped her daughter on the pretext of marriage. However, we raided at various places for nabbing the accused but during the police operation Raja Dass left the girl near Darapur village. We brought her to Dr Mathra Dass civil hospital, Moga, for medical examination.
After medical examination of the victims, the police have registered a case against Sadik Singh and Raja Dass under sections 363 (kidnapping), 366-A (procuration of minor gir) and 376 (rape) of the Indian Panel Code and 5/6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act at Fatehgarh Panjtoor police station in this connection.
