22 injured as buses collide in Bathinda

As many as 22 people were injured when two buses collided at the Lasara drain bridge on the Bathinda-Chandigarh highway near Jethuke village in the district on Thursday. A PRTC bus going from Bathinda to Patiala collided with a private bus going from Jalandhar to Bathinda on the bridge around 10am.

Such was the impact of the collision that a leg of a woman passenger, who was sitting just behind the driver's seat, was stuck between seats. She was rescued by pulling out the seats and was admitted to the Rampura civil hospital, from where she was referred to a Bathinda hospital. A JCB machine was used to separate the two buses. Four injured were admitted to a Tappa hospital, while the rest were taken to the Rampura hospital.
