Vikramjit Singh, Jatinder Kumar and Manpreet Singh allegedly killed one Suresh Billa on October 1.

Giving details, E division SHO Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa said, "On October 1, we registered a case on the complaint of one Sandhya that someone had injured her husband Suresh when he was out for the morning walk."

Suresh later died in hospital, said the SHO.

As the police were investigating the matter, the three accused were arrested. A sharp-edged weapon had also been recovered from the accused, said Randhawa.

The SHO said, "Preliminary investigation revealed that Vikram Singh knew the family; he had differences with Suresh and recently also had an altercation with him. This turned out to be reason for the murder."
