30,000 take pledge to save girl child in state

A mass campaign and pledge-taking ceremony was organised by the Haryana health department to change the mindset of people to protect girls by stopping female foeticide and put an end to the practice of dowry, an official spokesperson said.

As many as 30,000 health workers in Haryana on Friday took a pledge to save the girl child at the same time at different places in the state.

A mass campaign and pledge-taking ceremony was organised by the Haryana health department to change the mindset of people to protect girls by stopping female foeticide and put an end to the practice of dowry, an official spokesperson said and added that those who participated in the ceremony included various workers from different wings of the health department.

He said that as an initiative to improve the skewed sex ratio, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had decided to launch, 'Beti Bacho Beti Padhao' scheme in 12 low sex ratio districts of Haryana, which would be inaugurated on January 22 at Panipat.
