87 get artificial limbs in annual medical camp

Sri Sathya Sai Sewa Samiti organised its 20th annual medical camp at the Golden Group of Institutes here on Sunday to mark the birth anniversary of Sathya Sai Baba. Eighty-seven handicapped persons were provided 101 artificial limbs free of cost at the camp.

The samiti has already provided artificial limbs to 2,200 handicapped persons during its previously held 19 annual camps in the northern region.

Presiding over the function, deputy commissioner Abhinav Trikha said the government’s programmes for the welfare of the handicapped and disabled persons were organised regularly but the private charitable and non-governmental organisations should also come forward for helping those in need. He said serving the suffering mankind was akin to serving God.

Samiti’s chairman Dina Nath Mahajan, Golden Group of Institutes director Mohit Mahajan and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
