A day of protests in Bathinda
Continuing the spree of protests here, protesters under the banner of the Unaided Staff (Aided school) Front of Punjab marched towards the house of CPS and local MLA Sarup Chand Singla on Sunday.
Surprising, they were carrying bottles of petrol when they were stopped by the police from marching ahead. Some protesters even threw petrol on some policemen. However, after the intervention of administration officials, who assured them of arranging a meeting with chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, the protesters withdrew the march.
State president of the front Jaspal Singh said that if the administration failed to fix a meeting with the CM by Monday evening, they will intensify their protest. He said that despite a number of vacant vacancies of PTI teachers in state, the government was not showing willingness to fill them.
Activists of Lok Lahar, a platform of as many as 17 organsaitions, staged a protest in support of their demands. General secretary of the unemployed linemen union, a part of the platform, Jagtar Singh said that a meeting of the union leaders has been fixed with the chief minister on March 9 in which they will apprise the government of their demands.
