AAP demands CBI inquiry into infant deaths in Ludhiana

Marking their protest against the investigation officer appointed by the state government to look into the deaths of six infants at the Ludhiana civil hospital, the district unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) forwarded a memorandum to Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and demanded a CBI inquiry.

They protesters forwarded the memorandum through deputy commissioner Varun Roojam. The party members also burnt an effigy of Vikas Garg, special secretary to the state health department, who is heading the committee for investigation in the case.

They objected to the case being handed over to an officer who is allegedly involved in a multi-crore scam in Patiala.

The unit members also mentioned that a corruption case and a vigilance inquiry against Garg were still pending. AAP urged Badal to initiate a free and fair inquiry into the matter.
