The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday decided to felicitate Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during his forthcoming visit to the country from February 17-23. The party wants to felicitate him for recognising the social and political contribution made by the Punjabi community, especially the Sikhs, towards the Canadian people.

In a letter to the Canadian Prime Minister, leader of opposition in Punjab assembly Sukhpal Khaira has invited him and his team to a felicitation function that the party had planned.

“Your government in Canada has done the Punjabi community, especially the Sikhs, proud by recognising their socio-political contribution towards the Canadian people,” he said, extending the invite to him on behalf of the party legislators.

Trudeau’s visit includes stops in Agra, Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi. The AAP extended the invitation even as there is no clarity on whether chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh will be in the welcoming party during the Canadian PM’s visit to the Golden Temple.
