Aapna Punjab Party releases second list of candidates for Punjab assembly elections

Aapna Punjab Party (APP) president Sucha Singh Chhotepur on Wednesday released his party’s second list of 15 candidates for the Punjab assembly elections in Chandigarh. Out of the 15 candidates announced in the list, six will be fielded on SC category.

The second list includes an MBA Col Ashok Dogra (retd), 58 who will contest from Pathankot; a doctor, Surjit Singh Randhawa, 62, from Garhshankar, and KL Rao Kaindowal, 51, from Chabbewal. The party has fielded advocate Jatinder Rai Khatta, 68, from Bathinda-urban.

Sukhpreet Singh, 30, one of the youngest candidates in the list will contest from Gill constituency in Ludhiana. Balkaur Singh Gill, 66, who has masters degrees in five subjects and retired as excise and taxation officer (ETO), from Ludhiana-West.

Others are Capt Rampal Singh Bija (retd), 44, from Payal in Ludhiana; Dalip Singh, 59, from Jandiala; Narinder Walia, 54, from Amritsar-East; Gurmail Singh Kaler, 46, from Nakodar; Harshdeep Singh, 31, from Shahkot; Col Varinder Sharma (retd), 68 from Urmar; Surjit Singh Fauji, 48, from Mehal Kalan; and Sukhdev Vartia, 35, from Shutrana. Parminder Kaur, 49, from Chamkaur Sahib, is the only woman on the list.

Chhotepur had earlier confirmed that he will contest from Gurdaspur, but his name has not been formally announced so far.

Sucha Singh was earlier associated with the Aam Aadmi Party as its Punjab convener. Chhotepur was sacked on corruption charges from the party, after which he floated his own party named Aapna Punjab Party with himself as its convener.
