After Tota Singh, Bhagike shows her political strength in Nihal Singh Wala
After former agriculture minister Tota Singh, it was the turn of Rajwinder Kaur Bhagike, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA from Nihal Singh Wala constituency, to show her political strength by organising a political meeting at a historical gurdwara in Lopo village on Sunday to honour her supporters who were elected sarpanches and panchayats recently.
After former agriculture minister Tota Singh, it was the turn of Rajwinder Kaur Bhagike, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA from Nihal Singh Wala constituency, to show her political strength by organising a political meeting at a historical gurdwara in Lopo village on Sunday to honour her supporters who were elected sarpanches and panchayats recently.
Though Tota Singh and his supporters did not attend the function, SAD MP Paramjeet Kaur Gulshan along with Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member Jagraj Singh Daudhar was present there.
There are 68 villages in Nihal Singh Wala constituency and the candidates backed by the SAD had won on 50 seats in the panchayat elections. A week ago, Tota Singh and his supporter and SGPC member Narinder Kaur Ranian had also organised a similar function at historical gurdwara of Tahktupura village under Nihal Singh Wala constituency to honour the recently-elected sarpanches and panches.
Bhagike claimed that 40 panchayats of her group had won the election and she honoured them at Lopo, while Tota Singh had said 44 panchayats of his group had emerged victorious.
"Only six panchayats of the Tota Singh group had won elections in Nihal Singh Wala and there is no base of the Tota Singh group in the constituency," claimed MLA Bhagike.
Addressing the gathering, Bhagike alleged that Tota Singh is trying to mislead 'taksali' Akali workers of Nihal Singh Wala constituency. "No doubt, Tota Singh is a senior leader of the SAD, but the party workers are feeling that his unnecessary interference in my constituency is not good," she added.
SGPC member Jagraj Singh Daudhar also condemned Tota Singh's alleged interference in the Nihal Singh Wala constituency.
On the other hand, Paramjit Kaur Gulshan, SAD MP from Faridkot, who had also attended Tota Singh's function, seemed to be in a tight spot on Sunday when she attended the function of the Bhagike group.
However, Gulshan took this opportunity to speak about the Lok Sabha elections and appealed to the people to gear up for the elections.
Several members of the block samiti, zila parishad and senior Akali leaders were present. Former district president of SAD, Jaspal Singh Ranian, senior Akali leader Harbhupinder Singh Ladi and SAD spokesman Nidharak Singh Brar also attended the function.
