Ahead of Suresh Prabhu’s Chandigarh visit, movement near station restricted
With Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu slated to visit the Chandigarh railway station on Sunday, the railway authorities on Saturday restricted traffic movement in front of the main entrance and blocked the exit point. The entrance as well as the exit to the station was made one-way, and barricades were put up to restrict traffic movement, leading to inconvenience of passengers, especially senior citizens.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel deputed at the station said traffic was restricted as a stage is being set at the other side of the station. They added traffic will be restricted on one side till Sunday.
Labourers, masons and technicians were seen sprucing up the railway station at the last moment on Saturday.
Prabhu will inaugurate a mechanised laundry unit in Panchkula.
The mechanised laundry, set up at the cost of Rs 1 crore, was set up a few months ago to provide clean bed linen to passengers of sleeper coaches.
The Union railway minister will lay the foundation of additional traffic facilities at the Chandigarh railway station.
Projects to be launched
Eight projects will be launched. These are 81-km Jind-Sonipat railway line, platform number 4/5, foot overbridge at the Sonepat railway station, diesel multiple unit etc. Chandigarh station will get additional facilities.
