The Ahmadiyya community of Muslims would hold its 122nd international meet at Qadian in Gurdaspur district from December 27 to 29, with peace in the international community being the agenda.
With 5,000 delegates from Pakistan, which has the highest presence of Ahmadiyyas, about 20,000 delegates from 25-30 countries would attend the three-day international conference, the Sadr Anjuman Ahmadiyya of Qadian president Mohd Hameed Kousar said during a press conference here.
The community's global leadership at the conference would appeal for peace, especially to nations such as the US and Iran, for fear of the third World War, as seen from small wars occurring in countries such as Syria and Egypt, Hameed said.
"Despite facing several hurdles in many countries around the world, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at is nevertheless flourishing with millions of followers spread across 204 countries," he said.
Ahmadiyya Muslims also have a large presence in Ghana, Germany, Canada and the UK. India lies at the 10th position, with their population mostly concentrated in Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala and Odisha.
The concluding session of the conference will be addressed by 5th Ruhani Khalifa of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmed from London via direct telecast on Muslim Television Ahmadiyya. The conference would have separate enclosures for women from where they can listen to the proceedings.
Currently, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmed Khalifa Tul Masih is guiding the Jama'at from London, Hameed said.
