The stage has been set for a political rally to be addressed by deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in Nawanshahr on Friday. Meanwhile, former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh will also be a public rally at Banga town on Friday.
Their party workers are leaving no stone unturned to please their leaders.
Badal will be holding the rally for the first time after the assembly elections and will formally welcome former BSP leader Dr Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, who will join the Shiromani Akali Dal along with his supporters.
On the other hand, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh will address the public grievances at the rally that will be organised by local party leaders in Banga town on Friday. He will also listen to the problems being faced by Congress workers.
Sources in SAD claim that Badal may be visiting the city to strengthen the party, but it will be an uphill task for him to keep the Akalis intact in Nawanshahr. They said differences had erupted in the party in the district and it was divided in two folds - senior and junior leaders.
Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had already stated that the Nawanshahr assembly seat, which the SAD had represented thrice, went to the Congress because of factionalism in the SAD.
The party workers have been holding different meetings at different places. On Wednesday, Akali leader Jagteshwar Singh Majithia held a press conference at a private hotel on the Chandigarh road, in which many of senior leaders were not present.
Majithia said many Congress and PPP leaders would join SAD in Friday's rally.
On Thursday, a group of senior leaders - Sucha Singh, Malwinder Singh, Jarnail Singh, Gurmail Singh and several others - held a separate meeting to ask the workers to reach in maximum numbers in the rally.
On the other hand, leadership of the Congress party has been holding its own public meetings at various places in the district to arrange maximum crowd in Banga rally on Friday.
