'All Sirsa panchayats to be connected through optical fibre'

Under National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) scheme, all gram panchayats of Sirsa district would be connected through optical fibre cable within next two years, said Sirsa MP Ashok Tanwar.

Under National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) scheme, all gram panchayats of Sirsa district would be connected through optical fibre cable within next two years, said Sirsa MP Ashok Tanwar.

Under this central scheme, about Rs 20,000 crore would be spent to connect 2.5 lakh panchayats of the country through optical fibre cable having the speed of 100 mbps.

He said under the scheme, all the 334 panchayats of Sirsa would be connected to internet through broadband and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has already conducted survey of all villages.

In the initial phase, villages in Tohana block of Fatehabad district and Chopta, Sirsa, Ellenabad, Rania and Odhan blocks of Sirsa would be covered.

He further added that this scheme would facilitate the people to get their birth certificate, death certificate, ration card forms, voter ID forms and other forms under one roof.
