A government spokesman said the CM, who made the promise during a health summit held this month, will launch the statewide scheme from the community health centre (CHC) at Chamkaur Sahib.

Under the scheme, every resident of the state above the age of 30 will be screened for diseases such as anaemia, hypertension and diabetes besides kidney and liver ailments. An expert group led by health adviser Dr KK Talwar and Dr Rajesh Kumar, head of the School of Public Health, PGIMER, planned this initiative, said principal secretary, health and family welfare, Vini Mahajan on Sunday.

Claiming such diseases could be prevented and controlled if detected early, Mahajan said patients tested for kidney and liver ailments would be referred to the nearest tertiary care facilities. These patients will be examined at all CHCs of the state every Saturday.
