Bank manager arrested while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000

The manager of the Primary Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank (PARDB) at Ghanaur in Patiala was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of `10,000 and arrested.

The manager of the Primary Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank (PARDB) at Ghanaur in Patiala was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of `10,000 and arrested.

Senior superintendent of police (Vigilance Bureau) Harpreet Singh said they had received complaint from a local resident Manjit Singh that the bank manager Tarwinder Singh demanded money for releasing the first installment of his loan.

The bank had sanctioned a loan of `5 lakh to the complainant and the first installment of `3 lakh was due. The manager demanded `15, 000 to release the installment but, the deal was finalised at `10,000.

"Following the complaint, our team laid a trap and arrested the manager," said the SSP.
The sleuths also recovered the bribe money from the accused who was then taken into police custody and a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered.
