Bar receives Rs 1 crore for lawyers' chambers

The Gurdaspur District Bar Association has received the matching grant of Rs 1 crore from the state government for the construction of lawyers' chambers at the district courts complex, here on Saturday.

The Gurdaspur District Bar Association has received the matching grant of Rs 1 crore from the state government for the construction of lawyers' chambers at the district courts complex, here on Saturday.

A cheque for Rs 1 crore was handed to the GDBA president Ashok Tiwari by Gurdaspur MLA and chief parliamentary secretary Gurbachan Singh Babbehali.

Deputy commissioner Abhinav Trikha and sub-divisional magistrate Tejinderpal Singh Sandhu were also present. Babbehali urged the lawyers not to take up cases drug smugglers. Tiwari thanked the government and Babbehali for the grant.
