Bharti Kisan Union, Punjab, held a meeting with several members and farmers at their office on Tuesday regarding non-division of Punjab water links with other states.
Members said the resources of Punjab were depleting day-by-day.
Union members also decided to hold a huge march regarding this issue in New Delhi, so that government fulfils their demands.
Union’s Punjab president Ajmer Singh Lakhowal said, “Punjab water is being wasted by the government by distributing it to different states. Due to this resources of Punjab are depleting and farmers are forced to face inconvenience.”
“The problem of Punjab river waters has been complicated by distributing water to other non-riparian states in the past few decades. These states had no legal or valid claim to these waters, which are to be exclusively used for Punjab lands in accordance with riparian law,” Lakhowal said.
Lakhowal told the farmers that Modi government was not helping the farmers, as it had promised to help.
