British filmmaker’s Amritsar connection

Among its various historical shooting locations, some are in the holy city, where a part of the film was shot. Critics acclaim the work for its capturing the brutality of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. In Attenborough’s ‘Gandhi’, Edward Fox played general Reginald Dyer who had given the shooting order. The movie also portrays the inquiry later by Montague Commission.
