State election commission on Monday announced by-elections for 232 posts of panchayati raj institutions across Himachal Pradesh. The voting for all these seats will be held on November 30.
As per the notification, the candidates can file their nomination papers on November 13 to 15 from 11am to 3 pm. With issuing the notification, Model Code of Conduct has been enforced with immediate effect in panchayati raj institutions' areas concerned, where by-election will be held.
The counting for the posts of president, vice- president and ward members of gram panchayats will be held on the counting day itself at gram panchayat's headquarters concerned, while for zila parishad and panchayat samiti the counting will be done on December 1.
The by-election will be organised in Shekhpura ward of Kamgra zila parishad and Pooh ward of Kinnaur zila parishad. Besides, the by-polls of 13 posts of members of panchayat samiti, 32 posts of president, 24 posts of vice-president and 160 posts of ward members of gram panchayat, will also be held.
The state election commission spokesperson said nomination papers would be scrutinised on November 17 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature would be November 19. "Voting will be held on November 30 from 7am to 3pm," he said.
The spokesman added that the commission had also issued notification of the by-elections of vacant post of ward No 6 of nagar panchayat sarkaghat in Mandi district. He said as per the notification, the candidates could submit their nomination papers from November 10 to 12 and the papers would be scrutinised on November 13. He said the last date for withdrawal would be November 15.
