Janmeja Singh Sekhon and Ferozepur deputy commissioner S Karuna Raju had gone to his residence to meet Surjeet and his family. Besides the monetary help, Sekhon assured Surjeet Singh of getting his house and fields connected with roads and power at the earliest.

"Union government should have helped Surjit and his family but it was awful that nothing was done," said Sekhon.
Surjeet thanked the local residents and Punjab government for extending him a helping hand. He was glad that he could unite with his family after a span of 31 years.
