Cell to check illegal sale of habit-forming drugs

The divisional commissioner, Patiala, AS Pannu, on Monday announced to form a special cell of the police, NGOs and drug inspectors to check illegal sale of habit-forming drugs. Pannu also asked the SSP to form a special task force of the police personnel to check the trading of habit-forming drugs through couriers and private bus operators. He said that his office would personally keep a tab on the outcome of the police raids. “The raids should be result-oriented and not mere a formality,” he said.

Deputy commissioner GK Singh underlines the need to strengthen the drug de-addiction centres to help those who are hooked to different types of drugs.
