Chandigarh-based travel agent booked for duping city man of R4.5 lakh

In his complainant to police Ramesh Kumar of Maya Nagar in Civil Lines area alleged that he had paid over Rs 4.5 lakh to Ramandeep at his office in Sector 21, Nehru Market, Chandigarh, to send his son abroad. He claimed that neither Ramandeep sent his son abroad nor returned his money.
The agent was booked under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 24 of the Immigration Act, 1983, following an inquiry conducted by the economic offence wing of the Ludhiana police commissionerate into the matter.
Sub-inspector Shamsher Singh of the economic offence wing said police had launched a manhunt to arrest of the accused.
