Nearly 15 students of a private school had a narrow escape when the bus they were travelling in rammed into stationary truck near the Chak Alla Baksh village in Mukerian on Monday. The students and the bus driver sustained minor injuries and were discharged after the first-aid.

The accident reportedly occurred due to heavy rain as the bus driver could not judge whether the truck carrying iron rods was moving or stationary. “The damage could have been much more had the iron pipes been jutting out of the truck”, said an onlooker.

“As the school management did not lodge any complaint, no action was taken against the drivers,” said Mukerian station house officer Kulwinder Singh.
