Dalai Lama expresses grief over Philippines tragedy

In a letter to the president of the Philippines, Benigno Aquino III, Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama expressed grief over the loss of thousands of lives and the extensive damage caused as a result of Typhoon Haiyan which struck the south east Asian country on Friday.

In a letter to the president of the Philippines, Benigno Aquino III, Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama expressed grief over the loss of thousands of lives and the extensive damage caused as a result of Typhoon Haiyan which struck the south east Asian country on Friday.

The Dalai Lama offered his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and were affected by this catastrophic natural disaster. As a token of sympathy and concern, a donation is being made from The Dalai Lama Trust to support the relief work. The typhoon which destroyed towns across the Philippines is believed to have killed more than 10,000 people making it the country's deadliest natural disaster.
