DC denies deliberate rejection of papers for Khemkaran NP polls

He said that after the verification of the inquiry report received from Patti SDM-cum-returning officer, it was clear that the nomination papers of 11 candidates were rejected due to certain shortcomings in their nomination papers.

Giving details, the deputy commissioner said that in the election to be held on June 7 in 13 wards, for which 54 nominations had been received, 11 nominations had been rejected after giving them due opportunity to rectify the errors in their papers.

The DC clarification came after PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh alleged that the nomination papers of Congress candidates were deliberately rejected to facilitate the election of SAD nominees.
