Demonetised currency worth Rs 1.05 crore seized in Mohali

Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the IPC.

Punjab Police on Monday claimed to have seized demonetised currency worth Rs 1.05 crore from two residents of Haryana’s Fatehabad.

The demonetised currency was recovered from the possession of Ravinder and Kapil , during a checking at Landran-Kharar road in Mohali, superintendent of police, Mohali, H S Atwal, said.

A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered against them, he said. The Income Tax department and Enforcement Directorate have been apprised of the recovery of the demonetised currency for further investigation.

Police said a case was already registered against Ravinder in connection with a robbery bid at a private bank in Jaipur.
