Like a humble devotee, Dhillon kept his visit a personal and quiet affair. Even the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) were not aware of his visit, the first since he took over as Dera chief in 1991.

He had a 'Z' category security but he preferred to leave his security guards outside the main entrance.

During an hour-long stay in the shrine, Dhillon took round of the periphery, listened to kirtan before entering the sanctum sanctorum.

When contacted SGPC secretary Dalmegh Singh said , " We were not aware of his visit to the shrine. The doors of Harmandir Sahib are open for everyone and anyone can come to pay obeisance."
