The district education department on Monday recommended names of eight teachers for state award to the director general school education (DGSE) office.
Teachers, whose names have been selected for their remarkable contribution to the field of education, include Nahar Singh, principal, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Model Town, Kirpal Singh, diploma, physical education, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Cemetery Road, Dharampal Manavi, social studies teacher, Government Senior Secondary School, Rahimabad Kalan, Magdass, science teacher at Government Senior Secondary School, Bharthala, Jagjit Singh, science teacher at Government Senior Secondary School, Gosala, Sudagar Singh, physical education instructor at Government Senior Secondary School, Giaspura, Bikramjit Singh, Punjabi teacher at Government Senior Secondary School, Talwandi Kalan, and Satinder Pal Singh, Hindi teacher at Government High School, Begowaal.
Talking to Hindustan Times, district education officer (secondary) Gurjot Singh, said: “We have sent names of eight teachers who have done remarkable contribution in the field of education. The idea is to felicitate those teachers who have enhanced student learning by effectively and innovatively integrating technology-supported learning into the school curriculum and subject teaching.”
He said teachers played very important role in shaping career of the students and if the best was inculcated in their mind, they would certainly become finer human beings.”
Nahar Singh, principal of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Model Town, said: “I have been contributing to the field of education for the last 29 years and this is for the first time that my name has been recommended by the education department. As a principal I am serving this school for the last five years and making efforts so that teachers bring out best results.”
The awards will be presented on Teachers' Day i.e. on September 5. Last year also, the education department had sent names of six teachers for state award but nobody from Ludhiana was able to get the award.
